Chris brings strong
leadership and 18 years of financial services experience to his role as
founder and principal of Sway Research. Chris began his career on the
frontlines working as a financial consultant for Smith Barney, where
he learned firsthand the challenges of distributing and marketing
investment products and services. Chris then spent nearly ten years with Financial Research Corporation, where he was a vice president
and director of research, before founding FRC's retirement market
research unit in January 2003.
Under Chris' stewardship, FRC established a
leadership role in researching and forecasting trends in the IRA
rollover, retirement income, investment-only defined contribution, and
small business retirement plan markets. Prior to founding Sway Research,
Chris served as a managing director at Cogent Research, where he created
and authored Investor Brandscape: 2007, a study of brand equity and
loyalty among affluent and high net worth investors.
Over the years, Chris has been engaged by asset managers, brokerages,
banks, and insurance providers to undertake custom research projects and
provide consultation in the areas of market segmentation, product
and service development, organizational alignment, and distribution
strategy. He has worked closely with executives of varying levels within
organizations, from CEOs and CFOs to the heads of research, product,
sales, and marketing.
Chris’ research
and commentary is frequently cited in the main stream and financial
services press, including The Wall Street Journal, Financial
Times, InvestmentNews, PlanSponsor, and Ignites.com.
